This is something we discovered at PGI in Brainerd. It seems to be that the rolled stars make a better-looking shell (IMO).
At my table in manufacturing, we are big fans of Tiger Willow. Matthew and I got a late start preparing for PGI so we pressed a bunch of stars and Ian (better prepared) had rolled a bunch of stars. All were 5/8". The night before Matthew and Ian had both made a 6" and we noticed Ian's shell looked better (wider and more uniform). The only difference was the stars. We used the same burst, same hems, and same WASP settings.
